Happy new year!

Had a pretty good christmas, pretty standard. Had a couple of uni deadlines recently, one being a mix of our uni group composition entitled 'Red People', featuring flute playing from myself and drum bashing from Tobias Gale, the mix I did is below. Also was working on a festive christmas tune, and a bit of a wonky one, It too is below, enjoy them!

Happy November

Hello

I've been pretty slack on the whole Blog thing recently, but then I'm not much of a writer and the time I've not been spending writing crap on this I've spent composing.

Been getting into house alot more recently, it's so good to listen/dance to, but I don't really think I would ever produce any, but It's pretty fun to mix so maybe my monthly mix will be fairly house based (if I actually get round to doing one this month!).

It did remind me of a dancey track I made a while ago which is quite psytrance influenced, It's a remix of Electric Light Orchestra's 'Tightrope'. I don't really light remixing much, mainly beacause the tunes I feel like remixing are always amazing in the first place (not a good start, don't fix what ain't broke). I do think sampleing bits of other people's music is cool though, especially if it makes the listener go 'I know that snippet! ahh what's that from?!

I've also just finshed/unfinished another tune entitled 'Making a spectacle', see what you make of it.

Thats about all i've got to say for now, laters.

ELO - Tightrope (Topher Remix)

Some tracks from the last couple of years

I've stuck all my files up on zShare, as Blip seems to be rubbish. Unfortunatly I can't link directly to the mp3's though. All links in previous post won't work at all soon, so please refer to the 'Archive of Downloads' to listen to the stuff i've uploaded a while ago.

Good. Solo work is slowing down at the moment due to Uni and group projects. I have got a few tracks on the go, just need to find some time to work on them.

Anyways, here's some old (new) tunes I thought i'd upload, one featuring Toby Gale, enjoy!
Chris Rotherham - Time
Chris Rotherham and Tobias Gale - Robinson
Topher - The Life
Topher - Neverhood
Topher - Kertrudge
Topher - Flying on an A4 Notepad

Blip.tv is rubbish for mp3

Had a few people telling me they're having trouble getting hold of my tracks that are uploaded on Blip, so I'm going to upload them on Zshare instead, which has been highly recommended to me. Hopefully sort that out later today, who know might even upload something new if you're lucky!

October 09 Mix

Salute

Threw together a mix of some new music i've found recently, and some old time favorites. Includes a track by 'Floorplay' member Toby Gale, and also a remix of Al Cool and the Stranger Wines (Toby and Matt Smalley's band, keep an eye out for gigs in London that they're playing). Pretty varied mix, gets a bit more housey towards the end, hope you enjoy it.

End of Summer

It's official, the nights are getting colder, the rain is starting, it's the end of Summer. Everyone's back to Uni/Work, trying to get back into the swing of things.

Been a pretty amazing summer to be honest, done silly amounts of skateboarding, which is good 'cos it means it's been a mostly dry summer. Managed a fair amount of composing/producing, which is a shocker seeing as productivity generally deteriorates during the summer, probably due to the number of festivals, gigs, partys and general alcohol fueled events that occur.

Portugal was an inspiration, good to get away and clear the noggin', took the laptop though so didn't escape from music tech completely, check the archive of downloadable tunes for "Sao Martinho Do Porto" which I made while I was there.

The Big Chill was bigger and better than last year, saw some amazing artists; Simon Green (Bonobo), Lamb, Noah and the Whale, Chris Cunningham, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. And found some new artists to add to the old playlist; check out Erik Truffaz and Sly Johnson for some beat boxing, trumpet playing, jazz and soul.

Not really sure what else has happened this Summer, time to settle back in to the mundane of Kingston; coursework, The Mill, collaborating, New Slang, lectures etc

Stay chooned for information of a new collaboration I'm envolved in entitled "FloorPlay", featuring the fluteing of myself, the drumming/pianoing of Tobias' Gale, the button pushing, knob twisting skills of Nicholas Budd and the bass guitaring of Mathew Smalley. Should be good.

Enjoy the rain, I'm off to Uni, then going to see Slightly Stoopid in London tonight, amazing.
Later
